New Season, New Race Wear, New cars!
During the winter break racing drivers and teams have lots to do. Drivers have to keep fit, hone their skills for the forthcoming season and find sponsors, teams have to deal with repairs, performance improvements and potentially new drivers!
In amongst this important details like the car livery and new race wear needs to be considered. When Haydn Payne contacted us for a new race suit to promote his partnership with Real Estate company Yoke we were delighted to help.
Taking influence from the Yoke colours and their commercial presence our friends at Torq created a fantastic FIA spec race suit that will keep Haydn safe for the next ten years, in the UK and Internationally.
Haydn usually races in the BRSCC City Car Cup but has also raced in the BRSCC Pro Sports Sprint this season. After a successful test in the Maverick Motorsport Ariel Atom he entered the Silverstone Pro Sports Sprint round. Pro Sports Sprint is a new race series from BRSCC aimed at high performance, purpose built race cars to battle it out in a series of sprint races which fits the Atom perfectly.
Haydn lined up on the grid which had a Porsche, Lamborghini, Ginetta and a flurry of ST240 Fiestas and raced incredibly well, finishing P1 in class for race one, having a freak but harmless DNF in race two and P2 in class in race three.
A few weeks later he found himself on more familiar ground with the City Car Cup. Qualifying in P8 that gave him a great opportunity to push on and challenge for top honours in Student Motorsport and overall podiums. Race one and two Haydn performed strongly, finishing P4 in class and posting fastest laps in both races showing the pace was there. Race three was unfortunately a different story. Having started well and made up places but was an innocent passenger in an incident on the start finish straight towards the end of the race. Despite keeping himself out of trouble Haydn was caught by a spinning car from another incident which fired him into the barriers and ended his race. Thankfully his Rocked-IT supplied Torq race wear kept him safe and the only damage was to the car. Before the race even ended his team vowed to rebuild the car for the Oulton weekend and come back stronger than ever.
