Rockin’ all Over The World
Ignoring the Status Quo reference, it was an incredibly busy, and successful, weekend of a number of our supported drivers. From Hampshire to Norfolk and all the way to Portugal, drivers were indeed Rockin’ All Over The World, see what we did there?
In Hampshire it was the latest round of the Mini Challenge Clubsport Championship at the high speed Thruxton circuit for Paul Sawyer. The previous round at Silverstone had been one of Pauls most successful with podiums and points to start the year. He headed into the Thruxton round full of confidence after a positive test day. This confidence was well founded as he was immediately on the pace and competitive in the R53 class. He ended the weekend with a second and third in class and a big haul of points for the championship.
Over in Norfolk Tom Walpole was taking on the CSCC Slicks series at Snetterton. For 2025 Tom has chosen the KTM X-Bow GT4 as his weapon of choice and it’s safe to say he’s dialed in to the car. More often racing in GT Cup this was something slightly different for Tom, that didn’t slow his pace though! The grid was full of incredible cars from Lamborghini Huracan GT3s to a Ferrari 488 Challenge car and a Jaguar F-Type GT4, it was a stacked field.
From the off his pace was blistering and the KTM was lighting up the timing charts. Not only did Tom win his race he also set a new personal best of 1:53 around the full 300 circuit, which if you know Snetterton is incredibly quick. For context the BTCC qualifying lap record is 1:53, and we know that to be at the front in BTCC you need to be a very talented driver.
Tom completed the clean sweep at Snetterton, Pole, Race Win and a new PB, a fine weekends work.
Then we jet off to Vila Real in Portugal and the GT4 South championship. After previously winning the Hyundai Coupe Cup in the UK Luca Staccini Anzanello has made the big jump to international racing with Tockwith Motorsport in the GT4 South championship, piloting the Ginetta GT4. Vila Real is a street circuit so no testing is allowed, this made the task Luca, and co-driver Gracie Mitchell, faced even more daunting. But there was no need to worry with both drivers performing incredibly well over the course of a weekend that had rain, sunshine, red flags and thousands of fans! Two podiums from the three races was an outstanding return on their first visit to the track. They are now second in the Championship and ready to make moves to take the lead into the critical end of the season.
