Bank Holiday Racing for Rocked-!T Partners
Monday April 5th saw Castle Combe celebrate their season opening 'Howard's Day' and two Rocked-!T partners took to the track in the 'Hot Hatch' races.
Both Misty Racing and Driven Ohm Racing took to the Wiltshire track for two races in the massively competitive 'Hot Hatch' category, both teams were piloting supercharged Mini Cooper S's so the rivalry was sure to be strong.
After a strong qualifying both drivers were confident of strong performances, despite this being the first event for Driven Ohm in their new Cooper S and Misty Racing's Steve Kite not having raced at the circuit since 1990!!
Cold but thankfully dry weather conditions meant that there was some great, close racing with incidents and accidents kept to a minimum. The Driven Ohm Racing car of Gary Franks had a race long battle with the beautiful Renault Clio of Dave Tyson, in the end Dave suffered some technical issues but before that he gave Gary as good as he got! Steve Kite was a little way up the road from this battle and came home third in class, the first piece of silverware for a Rocked-!T partner team!
Race two later in the day followed a similar pattern with Gary and Dave Tyson settling into a race long battle before a technical gremlin slowed Dave's progress. Steve again escaped away from the battling pair and chased down the leaders. Steve came home third in class and Gary finished fourth in class, a new personal best.
It was a very positive season start for our partners with silverware, career best finishes and personal lap records, here's to the next round!
